Builder Sites Cleaning in Melbourne — From Rough Clean to Final Handover

When the tools down and the trades move out, we move in. SiteWorx Facilities delivers thorough post-construction and builders cleans that clear the dust, debris and grime so your project is spotless, safe and ready to hand over.

Post-Construction & Handover

The finishing touch that shows off all your hard work

Builder sites cleaning is the specialised deep clean that turns a finished construction or renovation site from a dusty work zone into an immaculate, move-in-ready space.

Construction leaves a very particular kind of mess. Fine plaster and gyprock dust settles into every crevice and keeps reappearing for days. Silicone smears the glass, paint flecks dry onto tiles, grout haze dulls the splashback, and offcuts and packaging fill every room. It's well beyond a standard clean — and it's the last thing your client sees before they judge the entire build.

We work alongside builders, developers and renovators across Melbourne to close projects out properly. Whether you need a rough clean between trade stages, a full builders clean once the tools are down, or a final sparkle clean on handover morning, our crews arrive with the right equipment and the know-how to find the grime you'd otherwise meet at inspection.

  • A handover-ready finish that shows off your workmanship
  • Fine construction dust lifted from every surface, not just the obvious ones
  • Staged to fit your build program, including after-hours and weekends
  • Fully insured, police-checked crews who respect your site rules

Choosing Your Clean

Which builders clean do you need?

"Builders clean" gets used for four very different jobs, and booking the wrong one costs you time on site. Here's how the stages actually break down.

Rough or progress clean

Best suited to: live sites mid-build, where trades are still working around each other.
We clear bulk debris, offcuts, packaging and pallets, sweep and vacuum dust off floors and slabs, and keep walkways, stairs and access points clear. This one is about safety and productivity rather than presentation — a tidy site is a faster site, and the next trade isn't working around your last one's mess.

Builders clean

Best suited to: sites where the trades have finished and the finishes are in, but everything still wears a coat of dust.
This is the heavy one. We work top to bottom — ceilings, ledges, vents, frames, skirtings, joinery, glass and floors — pulling plaster and gyprock dust out of every crevice and taking off silicone, adhesive, paint flecks and grout haze as we go.

Final or sparkle clean

Best suited to: the day or two before handover, a client inspection or a display opening.
A lighter but exacting pass over an already-clean site: the fine dust that resettled after the builders clean, fingerprints on glass and tapware, marks picked up by late visitors, floors buffed and every fitting polished. It's the difference between clean and brand new.

Post-handover & defects clean

Best suited to: sites where maintenance crews have been back in, or a space that sat empty waiting on the client.
Rectification work makes its own mess — patched paint, drilling dust, fresh silicone, boot marks through finished rooms. We return and detail the affected areas so the second inspection reads as well as the first one did.

Good to Know

Builder sites cleaning questions

The builders clean is the heavy lift — it strips out the construction dust, adhesive, paint flecks and grout haze once the trades have finished. The final or sparkle clean is the light detail pass that follows, usually a day or two before handover, dealing with dust that resettled, fresh fingerprints and last-minute marks. On a tight program they can be done together, but on most sites the two-stage approach gives a noticeably better result.
Get in touch as early as you can, then lock the clean in for the day or two right before handover, once the last trade is off site. A week or more of notice gives us the best chance of hitting your exact date. That said, handover dates shift and things go sideways — if you need us at short notice, call and we'll do everything we can to make it work.
That's the whole job. Fine plaster and gyprock dust travels everywhere, so we work systematically from ceiling height down — light fittings, vents, exhaust fans, door frames, ledges, skirtings, inside cupboards and drawers, then the floors last so nothing settles on work we've already finished. Dust also keeps falling for a while after the build, which is exactly why the final pass before handover matters.
Yes — paint splatter, render and mortar splash, silicone, adhesive and protective sticker residue all come off as part of a builders clean, along with the tracks and frames that collect the worst of it. We use the right blades, products and technique for the glass type so the finish is clear and undamaged. If any pane is already scratched or etched from the build, we'll flag it rather than leave you to find it at handover.
We do. Offcuts, packaging, pallets, protective film and general site rubbish get cleared out and into your bins or skips as part of the clean, and we separate recycling where we can. If your site has heavy or bulky waste, or nothing on site to put it in, let us know when you enquire so we can plan for it and quote it properly.
Yes. Our cleaners complete your site induction and follow your site rules and sign-in procedures, and they wear appropriate PPE for the environment they're working in. We're fully insured with public liability cover, and every cleaner is police-checked, trained and supervised. Send through your requirements before we arrive and we'll have it sorted ahead of time.
Either way works. Rough and progress cleans are designed to run while trades are still on site — we stay out of their way and keep access clear. For the builders clean and the final clean, the result is far better with the site to ourselves, which is why plenty of builders book us for after-hours or the weekend. We'll work whichever way keeps your program moving.
Mostly the size of the site, how many stages you need and the condition it's left in. Extensive glazing, lots of tiling and grout, heavy render or paint overspray, multiple levels without a lift, and rubbish volume all add time. So does a short turnaround. Rather than guess, we'll look at the site or your drawings and give you a clear, tailored quote with no obligation — usually within 24 hours.
Both. Most builder sites cleans are one-off jobs tied to a single project and there's no lock-in contract for that. On bigger or longer builds, staging the clean — a progress clean or two, then the builders clean, then the sparkle — usually works out easier on site. If you're a builder or developer with a steady pipeline, we're happy to set up ongoing cleans across your projects.
New builds, renovations, extensions and fit-outs of every size — from single homes and townhouses to offices, retail, commercial premises and multi-unit developments. We're based in Clyde North and cover Melbourne and Victoria, including the south-east suburbs nearby such as Cranbourne, Berwick, Dandenong and Pakenham. If you're not sure we reach your site, just ask.
